Frequently asked questions.
What do the sessions cost?
The fortnightly hiking and nature play meet-ups are free community meet-ups.
We will occasionally run additional ticketed events and pricing will be included in descriptions.
What should we bring?
Hiking groups: Hiking child carrier (for Little Hitch Hikers group but also welcome for the Little Budding Hikers group for the ones who still need to hitch a ride sometimes!), water, food, appropriate footwear and clothing for the season, hats, sunscreen, spare clothing, waterproof layer, nappies/wipes + rubbish/wet bag if applicable, towel for after, communication (cellphone, if you have a PLB bring it), first aid items. You may also wish to see the list for the nature play group and include those items if you intend to join in for a play after the hike.
Nature Play: water, food, appropriate footwear and clothing for the season, hats, sunscreen, spare clothing, waterproof layer, nappies/wipes + rubbish/wet bag if applicable, towel for after, communication (cellphone), first aid items, spare clothing, swimwear for water based locations, waterproof layer, towel, picnic blanket. You could opt to bring basic play items like buckets and spades, particularly at beaches and rivers. Other optional items include magnifying glasses, binoculars, bug viewers if you have them. The idea is to mostly interact in an open-ended way with the natural environment, so general toys are not recommended. However, you know your child best and if you feel you need a bridging toy, like a digger at the beach, to help your child become comfortable with this style of meet-up, then go ahead and do so.
Do I need to let anyone know if I can't make it?
It is appreciated if you are able to send a quick text message to Jasmine at 027 204 8542 so that we don't linger at the trailhead waiting.
